Win a $40 Gift Card to Whole Foods in Plantation

What: Gift Card to Whole Foods in Plantation
Who: Readers of this cool blog
Where: 7720 Peters Rd, Plantation
How Much: $40

I started this blog because I love being a parent. It's a magical, crazy, beautiful, sometimes super difficult adventure. When I see other parents at the grocery store, park, wherever, I feel an immediate bond. Sometimes I wonder why I'm spending so much time on this blog, but then I remember how good it is to be connected to you guys, knowing that maybe you'll find something useful and it will help you have a better time with your kids, in one way or another. So, now, I want to hear from you. And I'm giving you a little incentive. It's the first prize of many, many more to come. Here's how you can win a $40 gift card to Whole Foods in Plantation:
In the comments section below, tell me what you think about Palm Tree Playground so far. Is it helpful/useful? What can I improve upon? What would you like to see more of? I'll randomly select a comment and announce the winner on Monday, July 20th. Good luck.

  1. This blog is awesome! It has so many great ideas. I live a couple of blocks away from the main library, but I didn't know that you can buy books from there at discounted prices. I think you should talk about more mommy and me groups. The Nova classes (Play Together, Baby Rocks and Baby Rolls, the Music class, etc.) would obviously be a start, but I am sure there are more things out there similar to that... I think My Gym would be a good place to visit and write about in your blog. I have heard mixed reviews, but all from parents who have older children. I am curious to know if it would be good for babies under one. How about day cares? I know you don't have much experience with them, but maybe as the year goes on you can write about the one K is going to. Just some ideas! :)
I can't wait to see what is to come!!!!
    Keep up the great work!

  2. I love this blog because not only is it chockful of information, but I love the stories that you add to personalize the entire experience. Being new to the area, I love having a resource to check for things to do in the area with my little girl and my family, in general. The other things I'm always looking for are recommendations for children books and music.

    Keep up the great work!!

I love the website, especially coming from the teacher viewpoint. I was not into the mommy and me classes when my son, now 5 was little, but I love that the resource is available and I like to see what other kids can do. I regret not doing some these things with my son, but I think it really was just mostly getting caught up in my own life and poor planning. Most of these events are printed in magazines and while the sites are online, they are biased to specific events. I like the unbiased list of things to do and the money tips. We all know it is a much harder economy now then when my son was smaller, and just the price of formula has doubled in the four years since he was a baby. I look forward to using this blog and capturing some of the events I missed when he was small and I was home.

A tip: Maybe a question and answer section> For example, one of my friends was just discussing her 3.5 year old having bed wetting regression. I was able to offer advice as my son went through the stage at the same time and we found he was fearing something. As a mom, I find that everyone has advice to give and some things work for you and some things don't. A S. Florida bond of mother's to share the little things we have learned along the way.

Sorry for the dissertation, but I am an English teacher! Thanks Val! You always were the creative one in HS!

  5. Love the break down of specific topics at the bottom. And your site is so easy to get around! Love it! I agree with a comment above though, maybe a question and answer area would be good. If someone has a little issue they can post and get help from you or, whoever can answer them.

  6. I think this is a really great site to find things to do and I really hope to work with you in the future. I think the best thing to do would be to market yourself in different ways.

  7. I love the blog and I don't know how you do such a good job of figuring when/where things are happening in the community. I went to the Whole Foods sleeping seminar this morning, and it was great. I am a devoted Whole Foods only shopper, and didn't even know that NSU hosts things there. Thanks so much for putting in the time to do this.

  11. Valerie!

We love your blog! We think it is a very good idea. We don't think we have seen a blog like yours before. When Jenna is older we plan to take full advantage of all the neat little secrets you have found here in south Florida.

  14. Hey Valeria,
Like this idea. I will send you ecofriendly, organics, and online information. Online is good in that folks with very young kids are often at home more than out. I emailed some information on a great organization, National Wildlife Federation, and a magazine for toddlers to 4 yrs. that they are offering at a discount right now because of awards it has won. Check it out.
