These are my experiences as a South Florida mom in search of exciting, inexpensive, family adventures. I often post about noteworthy events, activities, stores, restaurants, classes, play areas, you name it. One of my pastimes is figuring out how to get you free stuff.

At Home With Music – Developing Your Child’s Natural Rhythm Through Simple Music and Movement Activities

Where:
Hollywood, FL
Kay Gaither Community Center
6291 Funston Street Hollywood, 33023
When: Friday, 3/19/2010
10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

This workshop is designed to help parents develop their child's natural rhythm while reinforcing early literacy skills. Little one and parents will be making guiros - an instrument originating from Latin America that makes a noise when a stick or a rasp is pulled over a series of ridges.

Parents, along with their preschool-aged children, can discover how to use this simple instrument while learning chants, songs, and beat-motion activities. You will also explore colors through the song-tale "Jennie Jenkins" and read a story that helps reinforce counting to 10. Lisa, the teacher, will also demonstrate a way to introduce classical music into story-telling.

The lecture is free. Reservations are required and space is limited.
